Restaurant History Dd33 Asian Bistro opened in November of 2006 and was one of the first restaurants to introduce upscale Asian-fusion cuisine to the Richmond area. The name combines the initials of local restaurateur, Dick Du, his son David, and their difference in age. Dd33's goal is to provide a unique dining experience for our guests; our emphasis is upscale cuisine with an Asian twist served in a stylish and comfortable atmosphere. Food & Cuisine Dd33's approach is to apply classical French cooking techniques to Asian ingredients in order to create new and inventive flavor combinations. Utilizing high quality produce, sourcing hard to find Asian ingredients and introducing new cooking techniques to our dishes are a few examples of our approach to food. Recently, Richmond Magazine named our Miso-glazed Alaskan Sablefish as one of the area's 50 Best Dishes. Atmosphere Dd33 Asian Bistro combines traditional Asian elements with modern touches. Local interior Helen Reed created a sophisticated and approachable atmosphere complete with gilded bamboo walls, colorful banners draped across the ceiling and an open kitchen. Custom artwork from artists in China adorns the restaurant walls, including a trio of Warhol-esque paintings of China's famous terra cotta soldiers. Gingko inlaid glass and palm wood accent the bar and provide a sophisticated backdrop. A large geisha painting accents the lounge. The enclosed patio and waterfall offers a zen-like surrounding to those who enjoy dining outdoors.
